Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in Lingapur village

A police official said here today that another debt-ridden farmer committed suicide in Karimnagar district on Wednesday.

According to the Huzurabad Rural Circle Inspector Ghouse Baba, K Rajaiah (40) a farmer from Lingapur village in Shankarapatnam mandal could not cultivate his land this year.

He had also availed of loans from private financiers, the police officials said.

Afraid of not being able to repay these loans, Rajaiah took the extreme step of hanging himself from the ceiling of his house at Lingapur village today morning, the police official said.

A case has been registered and an investigation is on, the police official said.
