Bru families who have been living in six relief camps will be rapatrited from November 1 as decks were cleared today in a meeting of coordination committee for the repatriation process at Dhamcherra in Tripura, Mizoram home department official said.

Additional Secretary for state home department Lalbiakzama told PTI over phone that the meeting was attended by officials from both Mizoram and Tripura governments and leaders of the relief camp-based Mizoram Bru Displaced People's Forum (MBDPF).

Lalbiakzama said the MBDPF leaders reiterated their demands, pressing for acceptance, to which the Mizoram government officials said their demands could only be met and fulfilled by the Centre, not by the state government.

Mizoram officials also said that the MBDPF could continue pressing the Ministry of Home Affairs on their demands while the identification of bona fide residents of Mizoram would be conducted from November 1.

As per the Road Map-V for Bru repatriation prepared by Mizoram government, the repatriation process would commence from November 1.
