Declare Karimnagar district as drought-hit: Agri workers

Agriculture workers, headed by the Telangana Agricultural Workers Union (TAWU), today staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here demanding that the state government declare Karimnagar as "drought-hit district".

TAWU leaders demanded that the state government due to lack of rains in Karimnagar district should declare it as a "district drought-hit".

Telangana State Communist Party of India (CPI) Secretary, Chada Venkata Reddy said, "the water in Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) has come to dead storage level and no water is available for agriculture".

Around 2,500 agricultural workers took part in the dharna.
