"The Prime Minister has already appealed in his radio program 'Maan ki Baat' on Sunday...I too would like to appeal the people to declare their undisclosed income and assets before September 30," Commissioner of Income Tax D S Benupani said today.

Benupani said the Department had collected data from more than 15 sources including major high-value land transactions, luxury vehicle purchases, foreign visits, high-value credit card transactions, investment in shares and mutual funds, investment in benami assets and cash deposits in banks.
"The department has already identified taxpayers who are under-reporting their income, particularly civil contractors, doctors and professionals and the department has been mandated by the government to pursue the income tax dodgers for unearthing the undisclosed income," he said.
