BJP today asked the Centre to declare the recent floods in Uttarakhand a national calamity and asked it to speed up rehabilitation work in the devastated state.
"We want the Centre to declare the disaster in Uttarakhand as a national calamity," BJP Rajya Sabha member and in-charge of the party's Jammu and Kashmir affairs Avinash Rai Khanna told reporters on the sidelines of a prayer meeting organised by the party in memory of victims who perished in the calamity that took place exactly a month ago.
"Rehabilitation work at Uttarakhand should be put on fast track," Khanna said, adding that there are still many people who are missing.
