Decomposed body of woman found in well

The decomposed body of a woman, tied to a stone, was found in a well at Ghatod village in Jhalawar district, police said today.

The village Sarpanch spotted the body in his well last evening and informed police. The body was recovered only this morning, SHO at Bhawani Mandi police station, Sunil Kumar said.

"The identity of the woman, who was in her late 20s, is yet to be ascertained. It seems the body is a week old," he said

"It seems the woman was murdered and thrown into the well. To hide the body, a heavy stone was tied to her stomach with the help of a cloth rope," the SHO said.
 

The police here have sought missing reports from other police stations in the state, especially from those neighbouring the district, he said.

The last rites of the body has been performed after postmortem as the body decomposed beyond recognition, he added.
