A deed writer and a clerk posted at the sub registry office in Baran district were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), a top official said today.

Deed writer Abhishek Saxena and clerk Dhirendra Saxena were caught red-handed last evening while accepting the bribe from businessman Vijay Bhadur Mahajan, Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB), Baran, Rajendra Singh Gogawat said.

The duo were sent to 14 days' judicial custody by the ACB court in Kota, the ASP said.

The businessman had recently got his shop registered under his wife's name, he said, adding that the accused demanded the bribe for issuing a copy of the registry papers, following which Mahajan approached the ACB yesterday morning.

A trap was laid after verifying the complaint.

The accused had asked the businessman to meet them on the tehsil office premises, where the sub registry office was also located, Gogawat said.

ACB sleuths already deputed at the spot nabbed them as soon as they accepted the money, he said, adding that the bribe amount was recovered in full.

No other valuables or significant documents were recovered from their residences during a search operation, Gogawat added.
