Remembering Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay on his death anniversary today, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said Upadhyay was a statesman, who gave a new direction to politics in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Das said politics should be in the interest of the nation instead of one's self. Progress should be for all, a government press release said here.
Development should be for the person standing last (in the social ladder), he said.
Following Upadhyay's path, Das said the state was observing this year as 'Garib Kalyan Varsh (year for the poor)' and budget provision for this had also been made.
