Deep depression moves to Jharkhand

The deep depression which last night paralysed the metropolis and parts of south Bengal, today moved over to Jharkhand as the MeT department forecast a cloudy sky with light to moderate rain in the region.

The city recorded 79.5 mm rainfall in 24 hours since yesterday morning and strong gusty winds moving with a speed of upto 70 km per hour, accompanied by sharp showers, caused three deaths and uprooted scores of trees across the city paralysing normnal life for hours.

The other places which recorded moderate to heavy rain owing to the deep depression were Digha (42.6 mm), Bankura (54.2 mm) and Burdwan (21 mm), the MeT department said.
 

The weatherman has forecast light to moderate rain in the next two days in south Bengal as also in sub-Himalayan West Bengal for the same period.
