Deepak Kumar takes over as Chairman NHAI

Senior IAS officer Deepak Kumar has taken over as the Chairman, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

He succeeds YS Malik, who has been appointed as the Secretary, Road Transport and Highways, NHAI said in a statement.

Kumar is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Bihar Cadre, who has held important positions in the Central government and the Bihar government.

A B Tech in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, he has experience in the fields of urban development, tourism, health & family welfare, education and general administration.

Prior to this, he was Director General Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) under Ministry of Labour and Employment.
