Defence personnel hailing from Puducherry felicitated

: Rear Admiral Andre Aroume, a retired Flag Officer from Karaikal region of Union Territory of Puducherry and Brigadier Umar Farook from here were felicitated by Chief Minister N.Rangasamy here today.

Rangasamy handed over monetary award and also mementos to each of the two defence personnel in recognition of their distinguished services in the defence, in his chamber.

He said the two defence personnel hailing from Puducherry UT had made their native place proud by their services in the defence and the nation at large.

A release said Real Admiral Andre Aroume joined the Navy as an officer in 1974 and served it in different capacities.He was awarded the AVSM medal by the President in 2007. Andre Aroume had served for 33 years.
 

Brigadier Umar Farook joined the signal corps in the Army after doing his studies in Puducherry. He is presently serving as Chief Signal Officer in Army Area Headquarters in Chennai, the release said.

He is actively involved in implementing various welfare measures through the Army Area Headquarter Chennai for the benefit of ex servicemen in Puducherry. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by the President in 2013 for his distinguished services.
