Dehla village in Una Assembly constituency of Himachal Pradesh would be developed as model village under Prime minister's Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY), BJP MP Anurag Thakur said today.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the innovative concept, Thakur said Dehla was amongst the largest villages of Himachal Pradesh whose population is around 10,000 and they overwhelmingly voted in favour of BJP in the 2014 Loksabha polls.

"Further, people from every community reside here which makes it fit to the BJP's philosophy 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'," he said.

Under the SAGY, one village has to be turned into a model village by 2016 and another two by 2019 but instead of three, he will turn six villages as model villages by 2019, he said.

Thakur said that Modi had announced SAGY during his Independence day speech on August 15 and the scheme has been launched in less than two months, which is remarkable.

Dehla would be developed holistically by strengthening health, road, water and educational facilities, Thakur said.
