The chief minister was addressing a high level delegation of doctors from Pakistan led by President of SAARC Surgical care Society Dr A Majeed Chaudhary, an official spokesman said.
"Mutual cooperation and support of medical fraternity will not only improve the prospects of providing excellent healthcare facilities to the people, but also provide the required fillip to further enhance people-to-people contact in the region," Badal said, according to an official spokesman.
Chaudhary along with other members of the delegation requested Badal to inaugurate their Annual Conference schedule to be held in Jalandhar from September 7 to 9.
Accepting the invitation, the chief minister urged them to discuss access to modern and quality surgical care in rural areas of SAARC countries, particularly that of India and Pakistan, during the conference.
