Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed a range of legislative issues.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's office in Parliament House.

Goyal apprised Modi of the fact that the current 70-member Delhi Assembly has as many as 46 first-time MLAs.

"During the meeting, various issues like the role of Legislative Assembly in democracy were discussed," a statement issued by Goyal's office said.

Incidentally, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has in the past claimed not to have received any response from the PMO to his "repeated requests" for a meeting Modi.
