Delhi Assembly today witnessed some heated moments after opposition BJP demanded inclusion of members from the newly created three municipal corporations in Delhi Jal Board.

Raising the issue in the Assembly during the discussion on the The Delhi Water Board (Amendment) Bill, BJP MLA Sahab Singh Chouhan asked the government to include a member of opposition in the Board, which was rejected by the Sheila Dikshit government and the bill was passed with voice vote.

Chief Minister clarified in the House that Delhi Jal Board would be part of 'The Delhi Water Board (Amendment) Bill 2013', when BJP raised question about the DJB's status.

BJP members during Special Mention (under Rule 280) raised the issue of non availability of drinking water in many areas of the national capital and asked the government to allow borewell in Sangam Vihar area.

"There is no potable water for the population of seven to 10 lakh in the Sangam Vihar locality. The residents get water every 25th or 26th day and to add to their woes, no water tanker suppliers were ready to supply water, leaving the option of use of borewells.

"But a new policy limits the number of borewells," BJP MLA S B L Gupta said and asked the government to make some special provisions in wake of approaching summer season.

In a written reply to a query, Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said, "As of March 4 there are 1,23,01,877 registered voters of which 1,15,99,559 (94 per cent) have their photographs in the voter's list.
