Delhi businessman shot dead; FIR against wife, cousin brother

A Delhi businessman was shot dead allegedly by two motorcycle-borne assailants at Raj Nagar extension area here.

The incident took place last night around 10:50 pm when the deceased identified as Mannu Walia was going to Haridwar along with his wife and cousin brother in a luxury car, Superintendent of police (city) Ajay Pal Sharma said.

When they were passing through Raj Nagar extension area, two bikers waylaid their car and fired indiscriminately pointing towards Mannu. Two bullets pierced Mannu's forehead and cheek bone, he said.

Mannu was rushed to district government hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police suspect property dispute could be the reason behind the attack.
 

On the basis of a complaint filed by Walia's brother Alok, an FIR has been registered against the deceased's wife Shalini and cousin brother Vipul, the SP said, adding, Vipul has been detained for questioning.

Shalini has been admitted in a private hospital under police custody after she fainted during questioning, he said.

The matter is being investigated.
