The special cell of the Delhi Police today claimed to have busted an arms racket with the arrest of one its key members from Millennium Depot near Nizamuddin Bridge.

The accused, Rajpal Singh (25), landed in police net yesterday. Around 30 semi-automatic pistols and one carbine (stengun) with five live cartridges were recovered from him, police said.

They said Rajpal was the brother of Richhpal Singh, a "gun runner racketeer involved in manufacturing and supply of illegal arms since long."

Sustained surveillance over the last few months revealed that illegal weapons are mainly pumped into Delhi from the areas of Khargaon and Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh and Munger in Bihar, police said.

A case under appropriate sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress, police said.
