Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Chief Minster Sheila Dikshit today laid foundation stone of a major road infrastructure project in North-West Delhi aimed at decongesting a section of the ring road.
An eight-km-long signal-free corridor from Mukarba Chowk to Wazirabad Chowk on Outer Ring Road will be built under this project at a cost of Rs 633 crore.
The project will help decongest the ring road as well as various arterial streets in and around Mukarba Chowk.

Addressing a public gathering at the event, which was also attended by PCC president J P Agrawal, Dikshit said the project was another step towards making Delhi a world-class city.
"The city government is keen to turn Delhi into an advanced, convenient and longer-lasting infrastructure- oriented world-class city to be emulated by other ultra-modern developed cities in the world," she said.
Speaking on this occasion, Agrawal said, "Delhi model of development has no match in the country. We are keen to have continued leadership of Dikshit in Delhi."
Agrawal, who is not known to have a very cordial relationship with Dikshit, started sharing dais with her since last month after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi asked both the leaders to bury the hatchet and work together to ensure Congress' victory in Delhi assembly elections for the fourth successive term.
Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in the national capital in November this year.
