Over 200 Delhi Police cops donated blood today at a special camp here to raise awareness against the menace of dengue in the national capital and contribute their bit towards battling the vector-borne disease.
A total of 208 policemen donated blood in the camp organised by Delhi Police in collaboration with Red Cross Society at the Police Headquarters here.
Delhi Police has launched a special campaign of blood donation DAAN (Donation and Awareness for Needy) in view of the rising number of dengue cases in the city and increased demand for blood platelets.

"This is yet another effort by us to contribute meaningfully when Delhi is in the midst of the worst dengue outbreak in last two decades," city Commissioner of Police B S Bassi said.
"We have also prepared a list about 300 police personnel who will provide blood on a need-basis in any part of Delhi," he said.
Till Oct 3 this year, over 7,600 dengue cases have been reported in the city with 25 deaths recorded officially. The unofficial figures of death toll, however stands close to 40.
