A Delhi court today stayed the examination to be conducted by state-run Punjab Technical University at various centres here for technical courses through distance learning program.
The examination was scheduled to begin from tomorrow.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Ajay Goel gave the order on a suit initiated by one of its students.
Amrendra Kumar, a student of MCA with PTU, had alleged the varsity had admitted him and many other students to its distance learning courses without the necessary approval from the Central government's Distance Education Council to offer such courses.
His counsel Neeraj Kumar and Birender Sangwan further averred that he appeared in the first semester examination in September last year but is still awaiting the result and the varsity was now directing him and other students to appear in the next semester examination without declaring the results.
"The surprising fact is that the result of first semester has not been declared so far and there is no recognition of the university as on date, hence in these circumstances any examination to be held by PTU would be a nullity.
"PTU is hereby restrained from conducting any examination till the next date of hearing...S D Education Society, Margaret School and Sangawan Model Secondary School (where the exam was to be held) are also restrained from providing any infrastructure for conducting exams till the next date of hearing," the court said.
Amrendra said he and many others had taken admission in MCA course in September 2012 based on an advertisement by PTU.
He also alleged that the process of conducting examination has been outsourced to private companies of dubious integrity.
Recently, an FIR was registered against PTU for cheating on order of another Delhi court.
