A mutual treaty which was earlier signed in 2007 between Delhi and Fukuoka Prefecture was today extended during a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony at Japan Embassy.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit stressed the need for further strengthening the mutual ties between the two cities to work on several avenues.

"We are signing another five years agreement, so that we can strengthen inter-cultural, inter-educational and inter-industry relationship between both the cities," Dikshit said.

She also admired Japan for maintaining long relationship with India.

Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, Hiroshi Ogawa, who signed the MoU with the Chief Minister, also welcomed the steps taken for continuing the mutual cooperation.
