Expressing concern over the alleged misbehaviour with a Khasi woman at The Delhi Golf Club, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today called up Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and sought exemplary action against those involved in the incident.
Honorary adviser to Assam department of health and family welfare Dr Nibedita Borthakur Sondhi today met Sonowal and narrated him the incident at the club.
A Meghalaya woman has alleged that she was turfed out of the dining room of The Delhi Golf Club because her traditional Khasi attire looked like a "maid's uniform" to the staffers.

He said denying access to the club and subsequent misbehaviour by the club management "is not only disrespect to the traditional dress clad Khasi woman, it is a discriminatory attitude towards North Easterners".
The chief minister urged Rijiju to take exemplary step against The Delhi Golf Club, which will act as a deterrent towards such discriminatory attitude in future.
Dr Nibedita Borthakur also told Sonowal that she will take up the matter with the National Commission for Scheduled Tribe, to which Sonowal assured all assistance from the state government, the release added.
