Motorists who could not get fancy registration numbers for their vehicles in first and second attempts, have now another chance to flaunt these numbers with Delhi government launching third round of e-auction policy.
According to the government, registration number 0001 will be the most expensive with the minimum reserve price fixed at Rs 5 lakh and numbers from 0002 to 0009 will be the second most expensive, starting at Rs 3 lakh.
An official of the department said that third category will include numbers from 0010 to 0099, 0786, 1000, 1111, 7777 and 999, for which bids will start at Rs 2 lakh.
"We have started registeration process for the participation in e-aution policy for fancy numbers and it will continue till December 30," said a senior transport official.
The official also said that around 140 fancy numbers will be put to e-auction in the third round. Those people desiring these numbers can participate in the e-auction by registering online.
In first round, a fancy vehicle registration number (0001) had fetched Delhi government a whopping Rs 12.5 lakh and it collected a total of over Rs 74 lakh from the excercise earlier this month.
The transport department's second auction of fancy registration numbers had the highest bid at Rs 7.5 lakh.
