Delhi govt declares 2-day state morning on Sahni's death

The government declared state mourning today and tomorrow while its offices will remain closed on Wednesday afternoon as mark of respect to the departed soul.

Sahni died here today following illness. He was 85.

He was not keeping good health for the past few days and breathed his last this morning. The cremation will be held at Lodhi crematorium tomorrow evening.

The veteran leader was Governor of Goa and Sikkim and Mayor of Delhi. He was of also the Chief Executive Councillor of Delhi Metropolitan Council.

Sahni served as Mayor of Delhi from April 10, 1972 to February 28, 1975. He was Deputy Mayor from April 9, 1959 to April 5, 1960.
