The Delhi chief secretary has asked the heads of state government departments to closely monitor the cases pending with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to ensure their speedy disposal.

NHRC cases should be monitored properly by all departments, Chief Secretary SK Srivastava has said. He has asked the principal secretary (home) about the number of such pending cases.

"Notices received by home department are being forwarded to the departments concerned for filing of replies to NHRC. It is noticed that in many cases, the replies are not filed on time, resulting in adverse orders by NHRC," he said.

According to a release, the principal secretary (home) told Srivastava that 10 cases in respect of year 2013 and 14 cases in the current year are pending.

In order to streamline the system of monitoring of court cases, Srivastava has advised principal secretaries, secretaries and HODs of all departments/autonomous bodies to ensure attendance in such cases with due diligence.
