Delhi govt felicitates 2015 spl Olympics medallists

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with his deputy Manish Sisodia today felicitated differently-abled sportspersons who won medals at the Special Olympics World Summer Games held recently in Los Angeles.

The 15 differently-abled sportspersons between themselves won seven Gold, two Silver and 15 Bronze medals at the games, which was held in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2 this year.

The sportspersons were awarded cash of Rs 10 lakh for each Gold medal, Rs 6 lakh for each Silver and Rs 4 lakh for each Bronze medal they won.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister congratulated the sportspersons and said, "We are so happy for all of you, you have made India proud. I also congratulate the parents, the trainers, the teachers and all those who worked to make this happen.
 

"We have to give you the best of the facilities and would like to know from the trainers and the mentors about what more the Delhi government can do for them. I would like them to do much more and also want to see more of the talent being groomed.

"When you were competing in Los Angeles, we were reading updates about your victory. I was so happy to read those updates; I am here to do more for you all. We all are a family, and you people are our pride," Sisodia said.
