Senior BJP leaders today attacked Delhi government for failing to control the phenomenal rise in prices essential commodities and said its policies and programmes were putting financial burden on the marginalised section of the society.

At a rally in support of Arti Mehra, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj blamed the Congress government for the phenomenal rise in wholesale and retail prices of food grains, vegetables and fruits.

"Sky-rocketing prices of onion, tomato and potato were direct result of Delhi government's failure to control the prices of essential commodities in the Capital," she said.

Swaraj also alleged that several ministers in the state were involved in many scams including the CWG scam.

Recalling the gruesome December 16 gangrape incident, she said the state government was not serious on the issue.

Mehra said the government still did not care about the day-to-day problems of the people like clean water, health facilities, sanitation, parking and waterlogging in rainy season.

At another rally, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely also attacked Sheila Dikshit government and termed it as "most corrupt".

Addressing a rally in Badarpur Assembly constituency in support of party candidate Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, he said Dikshit government was totally "anti-poor and its policies and programmes had put financial burden on the poor and marginalised section of the society."

Jaitely alleged that the government had hiked power tariff in connivance with private companies, putting huge financial burden on the common man.
