Delhi government is likely to oppose the proposals on higher education in the draft New Education Policy, including that of a central "Indian Education Service" and a centralised induction programme.
Different views were presented on the proposals during a meeting of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, with several professors and vice-chancellors of Delhi Technological University, National Law University, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and the head of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Delhi.
The government may oppose proposals on centralised service for teachers as it may result in frequent transfers, according to sources.
The 43-page report of recommendations for the National Education Policy on Higher Education posted by the HRD ministry for review proposes a common "induction" for college teachers.
