Delhi govt raises pension given to WW-II soldiers, widows

The Delhi government today approved a three-fold hike in the grant given to the soldiers or their widows from the national capital who fought in the World War II, an official said.

"Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia gave his nod to a proposal which advocates giving Rs 9,000 as pension to the soldiers who fought the World War-II or to their widows," the official said.

At present, the pension is Rs 3,000 which will now be enhanced thrice and the new amount would become Rs 9,000.

The official added that a notification in this regard would be issued soon.
