Flagging off 10 fire tenders, Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain today said efforts are being made to modernise fire-fighting equipment in the city.

He said 20 more vehicles will be added to the fleet of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), which comes under the city government, within a month.

"We have 300 fire tenders with us currently. We are doing everything required to modernise the services. We have spent Rs 6-7 crore in procuring the new vehicles, 10 of which will replace old fire tenders, while the rest are new," he said.

Last Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had held a high-level meeting over the recent deaths of two firemen on duty and to chalk out a plan to modernise the services.
