Delhi govt sanctions construction of 5 FOBs

Delhi government today said it has sanctioned the construction of five foot-over-bridges (FOBs), the tendering for which has already been initiated.

"FOBs will ensure pedestrians safety and reduce incidents of accidents on roads besides providing aid to aged pedestrians," Arun Baroka, Principal Secretary, PWD, said.

The five FOBs will come up at Saket Metro Station, at Inderlok Mundka Metro Line near Lokesh Cinema, at main Najafgarh Road which will have staircase and lifts, one adjoining Janakpuri (West) at Swaran Park, Mundka and near Carriappa Marg Station Road, RR Lines.

He further said the construction works of 15 FOBs are under progress and is likely to be completed by March 2015.
 

At certain places like Mangolpuri on Outer Ring Road, Rajouri Garden on Ring Road, Satya Niketan on Ring Road in the alignment of new Metro line and having cross over facility through station building, the existing FOBs will be shifted and will be re-used at new required locations, Baroka said.

There are 68 FOBs across Delhi constructed and maintained by PWD to facilitate pedestrian movement.
