Delhi govt signs MoU with German state for coopn in higher edu

Delhi Government today signed an MoU with Thuringia, a state in east-central Germany, for extending cooperation between the two in areas of higher education.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at Delhi Secretariat between Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Georg Maier, State Secretary, Federal Free State of Thuringia.

"The MoU has been signed recognising the need for and benefits of increased co-operation and communication within the international community of universities, centres of higher education and research institutions and to establish mutually beneficial relationship which will encourage such co-operation and communication," an official statement said.

The MoU will facilitate exchange of faculty members, academic publications and information and development of collaborative research between the two.
 

"The co-operation will help in introduction of dual system of education in Delhi. We also plan to setup an institution on the lines of the University of Applied Sciences as in Finland and Germany," said Sisodia, who is also the Education Minister.
