Delhi Govt to review Signature Bridge construction every week

Having missed several deadlines for completion of Signature Bridge, Delhi Government has decided to weekly review the construction of the much-awaited project.

A senior government official said a status report on Signature Bridge construction will be published online every week.

Following completion of the mandatory procedures for the construction of Signature Bridge and its approaches at an estimated cost of Rs 1,131 crore was accorded the Government of Delhi on February 26, 2010.

Later, a Revised Project Estimates amounting to Rs 1,594 crore was sent to Government of Delhi for approval.

The official said that day-wise plan till project completion will be reviewed and status-gap will be measured, adding that minister will review individual project tenders and cost escalation and will plug administrative delays.
 

The bridge is 675 metres long and 154 metres high and have two carriageways of four lanes each. The bow-shaped, cable-supported steel bridge - modelled on the London Bridge - is being built as a tourist spot in collaboration with three firms and two of them firms from Italy and Brazil.
