A prosecutor, who had complained of pressure from Delhi government officials while he was scrutinising the charge sheet in Rs 100-crore transport scam, has been transferred.

Citing reasons of "administrative exigencies", Director of Prosecution Pankaj Sandhi in his order said Additional Public Prosecutor Vinod Kumar Sharma has been transferred to the office of Principal, Police Training Centre at Jharoda Kalan, Najafgarh road here.

The Delhi government had denied Sharma's charges saying it was "a cover up attempt by an illegally-imposed ACB chief appointed by the Lt Governor."

"Due to administrative exigencies, the following transfers/postings in respect of public prosecutor/chief prosecutor and additional public prosecutor are hereby made with immediate effect, till further orders...," said the order issued yesterday by the director of prosecution.

Sharma, who was also the officiating chief prosecutor, was posted as a prosecutor in the court of Special Judge, ACB, Poonam Chaudhry at Tis Hazari Court here.

He has been replaced by additional public prosecutor Balbir Singh.

The order also noted that "S C Sharma, public prosecutor (headquarters) will also look after the charge of Chief Prosecutor of ACB, in addition to his already assigned work/ duties, in place of Vinod Kumar Sharma, additional PP/ officiating chief prosecutor."

Reacting to his transfer, Sharma said he is being troubled by the government because he complained against their officials.
