The Delhi High Court today issued an interim stay on the city government's decision to appoint someone to replace the head of Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) who was recently removed from his post.

Justice Manmohan, while refusing to interfere with the order removing former APMC chief Rajinder Kumar Sharma from his post, directed Delhi government not to make any fresh appointment to replace him till the next date of hearing.

"If he stands removed, he stands removed. But there will be no fresh appointment in his place. I will stay it (the appointments)," the court said.

The court was hearing Sharma's plea against his removal as well as the decision of the government to appoint someone to the post of APMC chief.

Labour Minister Girish Soni had on January 23, 2014, removed Sharma and vice-chairman of APMC after many traders had complained against senior officials of the panel.
