Delhi Jal Board employee suspended over faulty meter

The government today suspended a meter reader of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) after a couple in east Delhi got a bill of over Rs 94,000 due to faulty meter.

The government took the decision after a Hindi daily published a news about the inflated bills of a water consumer due to faulty meter.

According to government, one Deepak Singh, who along with his family lives in a rented accommodation in West Vinod Nagar, got an inflated water bill running into Rs 94,026.

"After a detailed inquiry, it was found that the meter was faulty after which action was taken against meter reader," said a senior government official.
