Former Union minister Manish Tewari lashed out at the Centre and state government today for withdrawing the only daily flight between Delhi and Ludhiana.

The Air India flight which became operational on May 13, 2010 after much efforts by Tewari, was stopped few days back.

"It was apparently the first gift of the NDA government, of which the Akali Dal is a part and parcel, to the people of Ludhiana," Tewari said in a statement here.

Expressing strong resentment, Tewari, former Ludhiana MP, recalled how much efforts he had put in to get the flights started between Ludhiana and Delhi.

The former minister said while he did not expect the Akalis to do anything, he hoped that the new MP from Ludhiana, Ravneet Bittu of Congress will ensure that the flights are resumed at the earliest.
