The new age transport system had scheduled a programme tomorrow morning to celebrate 10 years of operations in the capital in which Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit were to take part.

However, Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal said "in view of the sensitive nature of the current developments in the city, the formal function to commemorate the completion of 10 years of Metro operations has been postponed till further notice."

However, the induction of eight-coach trains will take place as scheduled without a formal inauguration.

But, other activities planned to commemorate the occasion involving the public such as exhibitions, quiz contests, sale of commemorative smart cards etc will go on as scheduled during the Metro Operations Week from tomorrow to next Monday.

Delhi Metro had also closed eight stations in central Delhi after receiving a directive from Delhi Police.
