The city today recorded its highest minimum for this time of the season in at least five years as the mercury touched 12.2 degrees Celsius on what was a relatively mild late December day in the national capital.

The minimum today had risen five notches above the normal while the maximum, at 24.5 degrees, was up four notches from the average.

"Both the minimum and maximum temperatures recorded are highest at least in the last five years," said a senior MeT department official.

Humidity in air oscillated between 41 and 83 per cent.

Visibility, which was 2,000m at 5.30 AM and 1,000m at 8.30 AM, improved as the day progressed.

The MeT office has predicted mainly clear skies for tomorrow.

"The skies will be mainly clear. Shallow fog would occur in several parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 22 and 11 degrees, respectively," the weatherman said.

The minimum yesterday was recorded at 7.6 degrees while the maximum had settled at 22.5 degrees.
