Paying tributes to the Uttarakhand flood victims, a Delhi government minister today led a candlelight vigil in the national capital.

Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami led the march, which began from Sindhi Park, Old Rajinder Nagar and was accompanied by local residents.

He expressed the commitment of the state government to provide help to the government of flood-ravaged Uttarakhand.

"Ministers and MLAs are contributing Rs 10 lakh out of their MLA LAD Fund in addition to their one month salary to CM's Relief Fund.

"It has also been decided that a round-the-clock helpline number '1077' be made functional in Delhi itself at the Divisional Commissioner's office to provide help to the families whose members are stranded in Uttarakhand," he said.

"The tragedy in Uttrakhand is a devastating natural calamity. The city government has already announced an amount of Rs 10 crore for the victims in Uttrakhand," Goswami said.

Yesterday, BJP's Delhi unit had taken out a candlelight vigil in the national capital too, in homage to the flood victims of the hill-state.
