In a bid to create awareness, appreciation and learning of photography as an art form, the city is geared up for the biennial Delhi Photo Festival, which begins here tomorrow.
British writer, curator, artist and teacher David Campany is scheduled to inaugurate the festival, an initiative of the non-profit Nazar Foundation, at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts here.
"Aspire," is the theme of the nine day long event.
"In an era of globalization and interconnected worlds, 'aspire' has become the buzzword seeking to define many of our intentions and actions, as individuals, as societies, as nations. Not all of these are noble because the flip side of aspiration is greed and excess," organisers said.
The festival has lined up a plethora of exhibitions, projections and panel discussions offering photo practitioners a platform to think of the theme in its many varied ways - to seek, to attain or accomplish a goal, ascend, soar, crave, pursue, strive, yearn, desire, dream, hanker, long, seek, struggle, try, want, wish, aim, endeavour, be ambitious, be eager - to initiate a vibrant discourse and debate.
Workshops, gallery walks, artist talks and book launches are also planned as part of the festival.
Eminent names from the fraternity scheduled to participate in the event includes London based photographer Olivia Arthur besides Philipp Ebeling a curator and publisher of photography.
Leading galleries and art institutions would also join the festival as "Partner Galleries," mounting independent photography exhibitions and related events in their own spaces.
The exhibition is set to continue till November 8.
