Delhi Police constable injured in 'accidental' firing

A Delhi Police constable was injured after being allegedly accidentally shot at by the security guard of a private cash van in north Delhi's Roop Nagar on Thursday, an officer said.

The accused Jagmohan was arrested and his gun was seized, they said.

The victim Sachin, posted at Maurice Nagar Police Station, was rushed to Parmanand Hospital where his condition is stable, police said.

According to a senior police officer, the incident took place at around 10 am when Jagmohan and other staff members of the security agency came to Kamla Nagar after collecting cash from different banks.

The cashier went inside a bank nearby while the others including the accused waited outside.

 

Jagmohan was standing near the van when he accidentally pressed the trigger of his double-barrel gun injuring the constable who was passing by, the police said.
