A 32-year-old Delhi Police constable was shot dead by suspected liquor mafia when he flagged down two bike-born youths at a check post in outer Delhi's Alipur area last night.
The deceased has been identified as constable Karamveer (32), who hailed from Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. He was posted at Alipur Police Station in outer Delhi.
The incident took place around 12:40 AM last night when Karamveer and a home guard were manning a check post near Jhangola village and had received a tip off about movement of suspected liquor mafia on a bike in the area.

Karamveer collapsed on the ground while the assailants fled toward the village. He was rushed to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela where he was declared brought dead.
When a police team went to Jhangola village in search of the assailants, they were attacked by the villagers who pelted stones on them. A head constable, identified as Joginder Singh, suffered head injury after a stone hit him. He had to be rushed to hospital.
A case of murder and under other various other sections of IPC have been registered and raids are being conducted to nab the assailants.
