To keep them abreast of challenges of modern-day policing and changing laws, Delhi Police today launched a weekly training programme for its senior officials.
Under the programme, sessions will be held every week on Saturday at police training academy in Chanakyapuri. The sessions will be attended by officials of the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police and above.
In the inaugural session of the training programme today, officials discussed investigation of the December 16 gangrape incident, its charge sheet and the modern forensic techniques which were used to make a strong case against the accused.

"We have new laws regarding rape and Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), besides acid attacks and others. This is an attempt to keep the officials updated with the changing times," said Rajan Bhagat, Public Relation Officer, Delhi Police.
The training program, which is an initiative of Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi, will be held on every Saturday and a new topic will be discussed each time. If an issue will need more time, the session will be extended on Sunday as well, said Bhagat.
