Delhi Police nabs key member of illegal arms racket

In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police's Special Cell has arrested a key member of gun-running racket and confiscated 20 pistols along with five live cartridges from his possession.

The accused, identified as Mani Singh (36), is brother of syndicate kingpin and notorious gunrunner Richpal Singh who is involved in manufacturing and supply of illegal arms to criminals in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana, police said.

Richpal Singh is wanted in several cases and efforts are being made to track him.

Police received a tip off about the accused coming to Delhi to deliver a huge consignment of weapons to a buyer following which they laid a trap and arrested him from Azadpur yesterday.
 

Mani was subjected to sustained interrogation wherein he disclosed that his brotheris manufacturing and supplying illegal weapons on large scale, said a senior police officer.

Further investigations are underway.
