The Delhi Police is preparing a list of its personnel and their family members who are battling with cancer.
In a letter sent out by assistant commissioner of police headquarters to all the senior officers, including deputy commissioners of police and ACPs on May 7, details of police personnel and their family members undergoing treatment for the disease have been sought by May 14.
"It has been observed that a large number of mediclaim cases pertain to cancer treatment in respect of police officers and their dependant family members," the letter said.
It said that it was a "matter of concern" and welfare measures needed to be initiated.
Yesterday, senior Maharashtra IPS officer Himanshu Roy allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself following a long battle with cancer.
