An employee of a Gujarat-based businessman, who was kidnapped from Uttar Pradesh and taken to Rajasthan's Bharatpur, has been successfully rescued by the Delhi Police.

"The victim, identified as Kuntal Patel, had come in contact with one Deepak Jain through internet around a week back. During their discussion, Jain had informed him that he deals in plastic granules and scrap which were available with him at cheaper rates in Kosi, UP.

"He further asked Kuntal to visit Kosi if he was interested in purchasing the said material," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Operations) Ranveer Singh.

Kuntal came to Delhi from Gujarat by flight yesterday and reached Kosi Kalan by arranging a taxi from a pre-paid booth at IGI Airport, Delhi to meet Jain.

Jain and his associates then took the victim in their car to Kama in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan on the pretext of showing him the material, police said.

"As soon as he got into their car, the accused told him that they do not have any plastic scrap and that they have kidnapped him. They asked him to arrange Rs 10 lakh from his owner for his release," Singh said.

Accordingly, the victim spoke to his employer Rajiv Ramchand Sabnani in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and asked him to arrange Rs 10 lakh for his release. On hearing this, Sabnani rushed to Delhi by flight and lodged a complaint with IGI Airport Police Station.

During the probe, the investigating team received some information through their reliable source that the victim has been kidnapped from Delhi and taken to Bharatpur to some unknown destination. The victim was in touch with his employer through his mobile phone, police said.

The team of IGI Airport Police Station contacted the SHO of Kama Police Station and raids were conducted at several places. Finding pressure mounting on them with the raiding party following them, the accused dropped the victim at Kosi Toll plaza around 9.00 PM, Singh said.

"In this manner, Patel was rescued. The victim's gold chain, watch, gold ring, ATM card and Rs 22,000 cash was looted by the accused. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused persons involved in the crime," he said.
