"We will surely send a proposal to the government (seeking death penalty for rapists)," City Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar told reporters when asked whether the force would demand death penalty for those involved in the gangrape of a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus.
He said the city police will seek stringent punishment for the rapists in court as well as fast-track trial for this case on a day-to-day basis so that the accused are punished as soon as possible.
Kumar, who had a meeting with Home Secretary R K Singh this morning, said he has requested the Home Ministry to speed up its decision on a proposal to buy 370 more PCR vehicles for Delhi Police as well as replacing condemned vehicles with new ones.
