Delhi Police has urged the state government to remove all deficiencies in the controversial BRT Corridor in the national capital.
Police Commissioner B S Bassi recently wrote a letter to Delhi government and asked that deficiencies of the corridor should be removed.
"In his letter, the police commissioner said that there are several deficiencies in BRT corridor and recommended that it should be removed," said Arvind Ray, Principal Secretary (Home).
Ray also said that a note on this matter has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, who is yet to give his direction.
"We will also seek views of the Transport Department on the scrapping of this project," he said, adding that "we are yet to reach any conclusion" on its dismantling.
He also said the government has received recommendations on scrapping some part of BRT which is not working.
"We have got recommendations on scrapping some part of BRT which is presently not working. The idea of BRT was good, but the way it was implemented and enforced, it didn't prove to be successful here. So, the decision on scrapping BRT is under consideration," Ray said.
