Delhi qualifiers of Indian Open snooker tourney from tomorrow

Delhi leg of the qualifying round for the 300,000 pound Indian Open 2013 World Professional Ranking Snooker tournament will be played from August 22 to 25 at the Megapool Academy here.

A total of 96 players draw have been made by the organisers from almost every part of the country for the knock-out best-of-seven-frames qualifiers.

The 2009 IBSF World Championship pre-quarterfinalist Lucky Vatnani, Junior snooker champion Faisal Khan and sub-junior snooker champion Ayush Kumar among others will be seen in action in the four-day long event.

A total of four cueists will qualify from the Delhi leg before the second qualifier in Bangalore next month.
 

"Another four cueists will be selected from the Bangalore qualifiers who will join the Delhi qualifiers for the final qualifying round which will again be played in Bangalore. These cueists will take on the top-eight national ranked players in the final qualifier for the six wild card spots available to India as a host nation," said Vivek Pathak, Jt. Secretary, Delhi Billiards and Snooker Association (DBSA).

Pankaj Advani and Aditya Mehta, two of the finest Indian cueists, have already qualified for the Indian Open to be played in the capital from October 14 to 18, giving fans a chance to see the best players of world snooker in action.

The five-day world ranking event will see top 64 cueists from across the globe battling for a whopping winner's prize purse of 50,000 pound at Le Meridian Hotel.

The event carries valuable ranking points, a top prize money and are open to all professional players.

The snooker fans will have the unique opportunity to witness top professional players compete against each other.
